Spotify What’s New missing?

What’s New moved. Your new releases don’t have to.

Spotify has been moving its feed of new releases from the artists you follow, and on some accounts it isn’t under the bell anymore. Here’s where to look - and how to get new releases from your artists into a playlist that stays put.

Works with the playlists you already have. Free to start.

In the last 30 days brew tracked 12,959 new releases from 9,672 artists in its listeners’ playlists.

Where to look first

Tap the bell icon at the top of Home. On many accounts What’s New still lives there, listing recent releases from the artists and podcasts you follow.

No bell, or nothing new in it? Spotify has been testing a different home for the feed on some accounts: Home, then Music, then Following for new music, and Podcasts, then Following for new episodes. Spotify’s community moderators have described it as a test, so two phones can show it in different places.

Still missing?

Update the app, and check that you follow the artists you expect - the feed only lists artists you follow. Release Radar on Fridays is the other built-in place, with one song per artist per week.

A release feed that doesn’t move

brew watches the artists in the playlists you already have - followed or not - and puts their new releases in a playlist right next to each one, in your Spotify library. Free watches each playlist's 10 strongest artists, checks weekly and keeps their newest 10 songs, in up to 3 playlists. Lifetime watches every artist in up to 100 playlists, checks daily and keeps up to 1,000 songs each, for $49 once.

Out in the last two weeks

New releases brew picked up from artists in its listeners’ playlists - each one the kind of release a living playlist catches.

Questions people ask

Did Spotify remove What’s New?
Spotify hasn’t announced removing it. It has been testing a different place for it on some accounts (Home, then Music, then Following), so whether you see it under the bell depends on your account and app version.
Does What’s New show artists I don’t follow?
No, only artists and podcasts you follow. brew reads the artists in your playlists instead, so the ones you never followed are covered too.
Where do brew’s releases show up?
In a regular playlist in your Spotify library, next to the playlist it watches. The playlist you made stays exactly as it is.
Is brew free?
Free to start: up to 3 living playlists, each watching its 10 strongest artists once a week, plus 90 days of Fresh Finds from your top 10 artists. Lifetime is $49 once, no subscription: every artist in up to 100 playlists, checked daily, and the taste-matched modes.
